Joseph Pitts & Nancy Slaughter

In 1607 the London Company established Virginia as the first permanent New World English colony.

Joseph Pitts was born about 1700 in Surry County, Virginia. His parents were Charles Pitt and Sarah Ann Hardy.

He married Nancy Slaughter. Nancy was the daughter of Robert Slaughter.

Henry Pitts (1725 , married Hannah Collier),
Caleb Pitts (1730),
Daniel Pitts (1730),
Charles Pitts (1735),
William Pitts (1737, married Elizabeth Griffin) and
Levi Pitts (1744).

Joseph died in 1789 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

Lush forests in Colonial America allowed settlers to build wooden homes.
